Description

By default, WordPress does not permit contributor accounts to upload images and sometimes you simply want to allow users with the defined user role of “contributor” to upload images as they are writing blog posts.

This plugin, when activated, automatically gives contributors the capability to add media. This is a lightweight plugin, perfect for someone who only wants to modify this one role/capability in which case a larger roles and capabilities plugin would be overkill.

You can, of course, promote that particular account to Author or Editor and this will give them the rights to upload and modify images, However, it will also grant them additional rights, such as the ability to publish their own articles (as opposed to submission for review).

You still remain the Administrator.

This plugin allows contributor accounts to upload images to their articles, without granting them any additional privileges or rights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this plugin modify other user roles or other capabilities?

No. This plugin only modifies the media upload abilities of users with the contributor role.

However, it will also grant them additional rights, such as the ability to publish their own articles (as opposed to submission for review). Administrator still remains in charge.

Will Contributors be able to delete my files/media?

No. Contributors will definitely be able to access other media items in the library and select them for upload, but they will not be able to delete any media items – including ones that they themselves have uploaded to the library.

What you need to know about Imager

  1. It is a safe bet for bloggers who are not skilled coders.
  2. This one-time, set-it-and-forget-it method is immune (exempted) to theme updates.
